Some history about the Tequila Factory:

When he was 21 years old, Don Gustavo Romero made his first trip from the City of Guadalajara, Jalisco to the beautiful Caribbean in the Southeast of Mexico. When Cancun didn’t exist yet, he made a road trip until he arrived to Playa del Carmen, where he sailed to the largest Mexico’s habited island.

With the help of the island’s inhabitants, Don Gustavo bought 17 hectares where he planted the seeds of his dream. His mission was to faithfully tell the history and method for producing our national drink: Tequila. That way a large-scale research started which resulted in a clear plan.

The project began with the construction of a building with a Jalisco’s Hacienda style and 2000 agave plants were brought from the town of Tequila in Jalisco in order to recreate the ambiance of that region. Soon after, the Hacienda Antigua Tequila Factory opened its doors to the public.
